Xilinx Brings First All-Programmable Multi-Processor SoC

Xilinx, known primarily for programmable logic devices, today revealed it has entered the final design cycle for the industry's first All-Programmable Multi-Processor SoC. The Zynq® UltraScale+™ MPSoC utilizes "seven user programmable processors including a quad-core 64-bit ARM® Cortex™-A53 Application Processing Unit, a dual-core 32-bit ARM® Cortex™-R5 Real Time Processing Unit, and an ARM® Mali™-400 Graphics Processing Unit."

"The Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC has been specifically tailored to meet the unique requirements of next generation embedded vision, including ADAS and the roadmap to autonomous vehicles, industrial-IoT and 5G wireless systems, with applicability to numerous other applications," Victor Peng, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Programmable Products Group at Xilinx.

The MPSoC is most suited for embedded vision systems, which makes it ideal for use in autonomous vehicles, IoT, and 5G wireless systems. The device is both flexible and secure and can perform real-time diagnostics for vast quantities of data. Future 5G systems will require increased radio and baseband processing requirements; the MPSoC provides this, along with baseband acceleration, while performing at significantly lower power.

The platform features:

Silicon Devices - Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC Fully-Featured Processing Platform
Development Platforms - Traditional hardware development and virtual development platforms*
Operating Systems - Open Source Linux, and FreeRTOS*
Design Tools - Vivado® Design Suite, Xilinx SDK, PetaLinux SDK
IP - Plug and Play*
