Background on the Infineon TLV493-A1B6

The Infineon TLV493-A1B6 is part of the XENSIV product family of 3D magnetic sensors that utilize a board mount Hall effect magnetic sensor for 3D measurement. It is packaged with a small 6-pin, which can provide an accurate three-dimensional sensor and low power consumption. These sensors can be used to replace both potentiometer and optical solutions, and the TLV493-A1B6 was specifically designed for use with consumer devices. The main application includes joystick, control elements, multifunction knobs, electronic meters, and other applications requiring accurate 3D measurement and low power consumption.

The TLV493-A1B6  is capable of non-contact linear, 3D, and rotational movement using lateral and vertical Hall plates. It offers high-temperature stability and is both robust and small, making it ideal for more accurate system designs. In addition, the TLV493-A1B6 offers five different power modes, including an ultra low power mode that only requires 10µA of current.

This MS2GO evaluation kit has an XMC1100 (ARM® Cortex™-M0 based) CPU and includes voltage regulation, ESD, and reverse current protection. It is a small (50mm x 14 mm) 6-pin package that features low power consumption (ultra-low power mode) a standard 2-wire digital I²C interface.

Applications for the Infineon TLV493-A1B6 and the MS2GO Kit

The Infineon TLV493-A1B6 is ideal for use in e-meters, mobile camera lens position sensing for actions such as zoom and focus, measuring 360° angle rotation related to shafts (for end of shaft and out of shaft), and joystick movement (including thumb, finger, and gaming paddles). It can also be used with control elements such as knobs and sliders as well as linear slide movement.
