ams OSRAM AS5172E High-Resolution Magnetic Position Sensor | New Product Brief
This New Product Brief (NPB) is part of a video series highlighting the features, applications, and technical specs of newly-released products.
ams OSRAM AS5172E High-Resolution Magnetic Position Sensor
The ams OSRAM AS5172E is a High-Resolution Magnetic Position Sensor that features a 12-bit PSI5 output.
Based on a Hall sensor technology, this device measures the orthogonal component of the flux density over a full-turn rotation. It compensates for external stray magnetic fields with a robust architecture based on a 14-bit sensor array and analog front-end.
To measure the angle, only a simple two-pole magnet rotating over the center of the package is required.
The AS5172E operates up to 16.5 volts and is protected against overvoltage up to 20 volts. In addition, the supply pins are protected against reverse polarity up to –18 volts.
The Magnetic Position Sensor is AEC-Q100 qualified, making it ideal for automotive applications such as brake and gas pedals, steering angle sensors, contactless potentiometers, and fuel-level measurement systems.
