Analog Devices HMC8500 are high gain, high efficiency, wideband gallium nitride RF power amplifiers capable of an output greater than 10 W.

This New Product Brief (NPB) is part of a video series highlighting the features, applications, and technical specs of newly-released products.

HMC8500 Amplifiers

Analog Devices HMC8500 are high gain, high efficiency, wideband gallium nitride RF power amplifiers capable of an output greater than 10 W.  With power added efficiency up to 55% and an instantaneous bandwidth of 100 MHz to 2.8 GHz, the HMC8500 is designed for pulsed or continuous wave applications, including battery operated radios, wireless infrastructure, test and measurement equipment, and radars.

The amplifier is internally prematched and matching circuits, for the entire frequency range or optimized to narrower bands, can be designed using low-cost, surface mount passives, keeping the entire design footprint compact.

  • Small signal gain: 16.0 dB
    • Gain flatness: ±1.0 dB
    • PSAT: 41 dBm
  • Power added efficiency: 55%
  • Supply voltage: 28 V @ 100 mA
  • Package: 5 mm x 5 mm, 32-LFCSP
