ANALOG DEVICES INC. LTC3310S Synchronous Step-Down Silent Switcher

Analog Devices' LTC3310S Synchronous Step-Down Silent Switcher DC/DC Converter is a small, efficient, and low noise converter capable of up to 10A output in automotive, industrial, communications, and other demanding power conversion applications.

The Silent Switcher® 2 Architecture provides substantial margin vs CISPR25 conducted and radiated emissions Class 5 peak limits. The “S” in the LTC3310S part number indicates the use of second-generation Silent Switcher 2 technology. Compared to 1st generation Silent Switcher technology, 2nd generation adds integrated 0.1µF bypass capacitors between VIN and PGND and VIN and AGND. This minimizes the loop area for ultralow EMI. The architecture also enables fast switching edges with wide bandwidth results in fast transient response. Switching frequency can be programmed as high as 5MHz, and the LTC3310S can be synced to an external clock and used in a multi-phase parallel configuration to drive larger loads.

The converter maintains a high-efficiency operation with 4.5mΩ NMOS and 16mΩ PMOS switches in addition to a 1µA shutdown current. It operates from 2.25V to 5.5V supply and can output  0.5V to VIN with ±1% accuracy using Remote Sense. The device can operate with 100% duty cycle operation for low dropout, and it is available with a fixed 1V output option.

The LTC3310S is housed in a thermally enhanced 3mm x 3mm LQFN package and has integrated protection for output overvoltage, output short circuit, and thermal shutdown.
