MELEXIS MLX90392 Triaxis® Micropower Magnetometer

Melexis MLX90392 Triaxis® Micropower Magnetometer is a programmable sensor IC offering a 16-bit output proportional to the magnetic flux density sensed along the X, Y and Z axes, along with a temperature output signal.

This device is specifically designed for micropower applications with programmable duty cycles in the range of 0.1% to 100% allowing for configurable power consumption based on system requirements.

The MLX90392 magnetic field sensor IC can be reprogrammed to different modes and with different settings at run-time. The sensor IC offers a 16-bit output proportional to the magnetic flux density sensed along the X, Y, and Z axes using the Melexis proprietary Triaxis® technology and also offers a temperature output signal. These digital values are available via I2C and SPI, where the MLX90392 is a slave on the bus.

By selecting which axes are to be measured, the raw data can be used as input for further post-processing by an external microcontroller, making the device suitable for applications such as joysticks, rotary knobs, linear strokes, and complex 3D position sensing.

The MLX90392 is available in 2 magnetic versions - one in the +/-5 milliTesla range for low noise applications and another in the +/-50 milliTesla range for position sensor applications.

The MLX90392 has the high sensitivity and flexibility where a range of magnet shapes and chemistries can be used. The MLX90392 is packaged  in a miniature 2 by 2.5 by 0.4mm UTDFN package for unparallelled performance in industrial and consumer applications.
