Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF52840 Preview Development Kit

Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF52840 preview development kit provides developers an extensible platform for Bluetooth 5 projects.

Compared to Bluetooth 4.2, Bluetooth 5 provides twice the bandwidth, four times the range, and eight times the packet size for faster, more efficient communication. Nordic's nRF52840 SoCs include an ARM Cortex-M4F and 2.4 GHz radio that can support additional protocols beyond Bluetooth 5 and features that reduce CPU load.

The kit is compatible with Arduino UNO R3 shields and also includes an NFC tag to utilize the on-chip NFC tag-A interface. The board is ARM mbed-enabled to facilitate the development of IoT devices and help developers leverage the capabilities of Bluetooth 5.

  • Rapid prototyping and development with Bluetooth 5
    • Also supports ANT, 802.15.4m, proprietary 2.4 GHz protocols
  • nRF52840 SoC
    • ARM Cortex-M4F
    • 2.4 GHz radio
    • NFC-A tag
  • SD card slot
