This New Product Brief (NPB) is part of a video series highlighting the features, applications, and technical specs of newly-released products.

OMRON B5L 3D Time of Flight (TOF) Sensor Module

Omron Electronics B5L 3D Time of Flight Sensor Module provides real-time 3D distance measurement of people and objects in challenging environments for applications such as autonomous mobile robots, factory automation, and smart buildings. The B5L has internal compensation to minimize host processing and provide high accuracy measurements of distances from 0.5m to 4m, with high ambient light immunity to operate without saturation in daylight and other bright environments. The sensor has a 70° x 90° field of view and can capture measurements at up to 20fps for use in 3D motion tracking applications. It also has a configurable ID for interference prevention between multiple sensors. The B5L is designed for long life operation equivalent to 5 years of continuous driving.

  • High Accuracy: ±2% (2m) for compensated signals
    • Internal compensation reduces host processing
  • Detection Range: 0.5m to 4m
  • High Ambient Light Immunity: Equivalent to 100,000lx
    • Stable detection without saturation in bright areas
  • Sensor:
    • 320x240 pixels
    • Field of view: 90° x 70° (H x V)
    • Up to 20fps
  • Interference Prevention: Up to 17 configurable IDs
  • Long Life: Equivalent to 5 years of continuous driving
