This episode of Tech Specs is part of a video series highlighting the features, applications, and technical specs of newly-released products.

Omron W7ED Touch Sensor

OMRON’s W7ED touch sensor is bringing the benefits of touch to more applications, such as elevators, vending machines, and more.

W7ED touch sensors minimize development time for any project. They’re designed to be mounted using screws to connect the sensor contact to metal or metal-plated touch electrodes, eliminating the need for custom PCB design and reducing maintenance needs.

There’s also no need to perform sensitivity adjustments, allowing for simple maintenance and easy implementation. W7ED touch sensors are available with an inline or L-shaped electrode and an optional frame ground terminal to prevent damage from ESD.

These sensors can operate from a 5V to 15V supply and have an open collector output.

  • Suitable for embedding in equipment
  • No PCB design: sensor contact fastens to touch electrode with screws
  • Requires no sensitivity adjustment
  • I-shaped or L-shaped contacts for design flexibility
  • Optional frame ground (FG) terminal prevents damage from ESD
  • 5VDC to 15VDC supply with open-collector output
