This New Product Brief (NPB) is part of a video series highlighting the features, applications, and technical specs of newly-released products.
Panasonic Saturn Lens EKMB and EKMC PIR Motion Sensors
Panasonic Saturn Lens EKMB and EKMC PIR Motion Sensors have a unique dual function lens that allows for more subtle motion to be detected in the center of the field of view. The full 90° x 90° view of the sensor is able to detect typical motion, but the 44° x 44° center area is able to detect smaller objects with slower speed over smaller distances.
The EKMB series pairs the Saturn Lens with a low-current sensor with a differential input that improves noise immunity into the GHz range, ideal for IoT, smarthome, and other battery driven or wireless enabled devices. The EKMC series are economy sensors that provide the benefits of the Saturn Lens for wired applications, including lighting control, HVAC, building automation, and security applications.
- Field of View:
- Slight Motion: 44° x 44°
- Standard Motion: 90° x 90°
- Current Consumption:
- EKMB: 1 µA, 2 µA, or 6 µA variants
- EKMC: 170 µA
- Detection Distance: up to 2.2 m
