Karen Reyes Applications Engineer Karen Reyes is currently an Applications Engineer at ROHM Semiconductor. Her areas of expertise include wireless communications, MEMS accelerometers and power electronics. She's responsible for technical support in the Americas region including Canada and South America for industrial, consumer and automotive spaces. Karen received a MSc. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in 2021.

Wi-SUN: Innovation for Smart Solutions

This presentation reviews ROHM Semiconductor’s Wi-SUN module, an innovative communication solution for large outdoor networks targeting smart utilities and smart cities. The ROHM's BP35C5 Wi-SUN FAN Module is suitable for various IoT applications due to its high versatility. It provides obstacle avoidance, high range, and high reliability. The BP35C5 comes with an Integrated RF + MCU with FAN software stack built into the module allowing easy testing and integration of the product. In addition, users can configure the data rate to either 50kbps, 150kbps, or 300kbps. The data rate is related to the bandwidth and has no relation to the distance. The BP35C5 ROHM Solution transmission range is about 20km with multi-hop configuration, and it is WiSUN Alliance certified.
