Dr. Amar Gupta has worked at MIT for most of career and has played a major role in the development of several technologies and business processes that are in wide use in countries around the world today. He has done original work in the areas of presentation graphics, clipart, microcomputer-based image database systems, AI-facilitated automated reading and processing of bank checks, the 24-Hour Knowledge Factory, digital health and telemedicine. These ideas have been widely adopted and deployed around the world, surmounting organizational and political borders. Dr. Gupta holds an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering (from IIT Kanpur), a graduate degree in Management (from MIT) and a doctorate in Computer Science (from IIT Delhi).
