Pierre Olivier, Eng., LeddarTech, Chief Technology Officer Recognized for his technical expertise as well as his vision, Pierre has numerous years’ experience in the development of high-tech products. Upon graduating from university in 1991, he joined CML Technologies, where very early on, his ability to manage projects in a pragmatic and efficient manner became clear. He quickly moved up the corporate ladder, while developing his management skills. Pierre has also designed a number of innovative, adaptable, practical, and robust products that are used worldwide in strategic applications such as emergency dispatch and air traffic control, and he holds several patents for his work. He then continued his career at Adept Technology Canada and at DAP Technologies before joining the LeddarTech team in 2010. Pierre holds a degree in electrical engineering from Université Laval and is a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
Manar El-Chammas, Omni Design Technologies, VP of Engineering Manar El-Chammas received the B.E. degree in computer and communications engineering from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, in 2004, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University, in 2006 and 2010, respectively, where his research focused on multi-GS/s time-interleaved ADCs.He is currently the VP of Engineering at Omni Design Technologies, where he leads the R&D efforts in data converter IP. His career began at Texas Instruments in 2010, where he worked on high-speed and high-performance ADCs for wireless infrastructure in both BiCMOS and deep sub-micron CMOS processes, and was the design manager of the High Speed Data Converter group. He then joined Mythic as the Director of Analog Design, where he led the development of the core analog computation engine for neural networks. Afterwards, he worked at an early stage startup architecting novel artificial intelligence inference systems. He has been granted multiple patents in high-speed ADC design and mixed-signal computation, has published and presented a variety of journal and conference articles (and was the recipient of the best paper award in IEEE BCTM), and has written a book on time-interleaved ADCs. His research interests include highly linear sampling systems, ultra-low power data converter design, efficient computation systems for machine learning, and neural network algorithms.

Are Solid-State LiDARs Ready for Mass-Market Deployment?

In partnership with LeddarTech

Many LiDAR manufacturers use discrete devices on a printed circuit board for their prototype and low-volume LiDAR products and need a more integrated solution for their next-generation products. LeddarTech and Omni Design are collaborating to address this market requirement to enable mass production of solid-state LiDAR products that meet stringent automotive requirements and provide exceptional performance and significantly lower cost and power consumption while enabling a smaller form factor and faster time-to-market.

LeddarTech’s LiDAR SoC integrates analog-to-digital converters (ADC) and a multi-channel analog front-end (AFE) from Omni Design. This SoC will reduce the product development cycle for LiDAR manufacturers and accelerate the path to volume manufacturing of solid-state LiDARs that meet functional safety (ISO 26262 ASIL-B) and reliability (AEC-Q100) requirements.

Pierre Olivier (CTO, LeddarTech) and Dr. Manar El-Chammas (VP Engineering, Omni Design Technologies) will share the synergy of solutions between the two organizations, jointly describe how they collaborate, synergistic benefits to LiDAR manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers and the roadmap for collaboration.
