BeagleBoard BeagleBone AI
BeagleBoard’s BeagleBone AI is a powerful open hardware platform for developing industrial, commercial, and home automation applications with AI at the edge instead of in the cloud.
The BeagleBone AI is based on TI’s AM5729 Sitara Processor and is supported by an optimized TI Deep Learning OpenCL API, with pre-trained models and pre-installed tools. It also has a pre-installed Linux distribution that provides developers with a zero-download quick start experience with the option to connect over USB or Wi-Fi or use the board on its own by connecting a monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
The TI AM5729 Sitara Processor provides powerful processing capabilities. It features a dual-core 1.5GHz Arm Cortex-A15 microprocessor subsystem, two C66 series floating-point DSPs, four embedded video engines for machine learning, and two Arm Cortex-M4 dual-core co-processors for a total of four cores that can be used for real-time control and offloading subsystem management from the application processors.
The AM5729 also has a dual-core 3D GPU, a 2D graphics accelerator, and hardware to encode and decode 4k H.264 video at 15fps and other codecs up to 1080p at 60fps.
The BeagleBone AI offers a BeagleBone Black header and mechanical compatibility for use with existing hardware. It includes gigabit ethernet, USB Type-A host, and micro-HDMI connectors. It also has a USB Type-C host and client and can be powered over the USB Type-C connection. The board includes 1GB of DDR3L DRAM, 16GB of eMMC flash, and a microSD slot for additional storage, and it has 802.11ac dual-band WiFi + Bluetooth.
