Nordic Rains IoT Products at Embedded World and MWC 2026
At the shows, Nordic debuted new cellular platforms, entry-level Bluetooth LE SoCs, and an edge-AI-enabled wireless chip.
At this year's Mobile World Congress and Embedded World, Nordic Semiconductor announced a series of new products to expand its position in cellular IoT, Bluetooth connectivity, and edge AI processing.

Nordic Semiconductor releases new products at MWC 2026.
The updates include new cellular modules, entry-level Bluetooth SoCs, and AI-enabled wireless chips built on Nordic’s nRF91 cellular platform and nRF54 wireless architecture. These devices target applications that range from low-power sensors and wearables to industrial IoT systems. Nordic claims the new products will simplify development while enabling global connectivity, long battery life, and on-device intelligence for next-generation connected products.
nRF92 and nRF93 Series: Expanding Nordic’s Cellular IoT
Nordic’s latest portfolio expansion introduces two new cellular product families built on the company’s nRF91 series. The nRF92 series is a next-generation LTE-M and NB-IoT platform that supports satellite non-terrestrial networks (NTN). It integrates a high-performance application MCU, multi-constellation GNSS positioning, Wi-Fi locationing, and Nordic’s Axon neural processing unit (NPU) to enable edge AI processing in battery-powered IoT devices.

At the show, Nordic also introduced the nRF93 series, which targets higher-throughput cellular IoT deployments using LTE Cat 1 bis connectivity. The nRF93M1 supports up to 10 Mbps downlink and 5 Mbps uplink while maintaining Nordic’s low-power design approach. The module also integrates Wi-Fi location capabilities and direct compatibility with nRF Cloud, enabling features such as firmware-over-the-air updates, device monitoring, and remote debugging.
nRF54LS05A and nRF54LS05B: Entry-Level Bluetooth LE SoCs
Nordic also expanded its nRF54L series, introducing two entry-level Bluetooth Low Energy SoCs: the nRF54LS05A and nRF54LS05B. The company designed these chips for cost-sensitive wireless products while still leveraging its established Bluetooth ecosystem and development tools.

Both devices combine a 128-MHz Arm Cortex-M33 processor with Nordic’s fourth-generation Bluetooth LE radio, making them suitable for applications such as sensors, tags, beacons, remotes, and PC peripherals. The two variants share 0.5 MB of non-volatile memory, with the LS05B providing 96 KB of RAM compared with 64 KB in the LS05A—giving developers slightly more memory headroom for additional features.
nRF54LM20B: Edge AI Processing for Wireless Devices
Nordic also expanded its edge AI portfolio with the nRF54LM20B wireless SoC, which integrates the company’s Axon neural processing unit (NPU). The NPU accelerates machine-learning workloads directly on the device, allowing embedded systems to process sensor, audio, and event data without relying on cloud computing.
According to Nordic, the chip can run TensorFlow Lite class models up to 15 times faster than CPU-only execution while significantly improving energy efficiency. This enables tasks such as audio detection, anomaly monitoring, motion analysis, and environmental sensing to run locally on battery-powered devices used in wearables, industrial sensors, smart home systems, and asset trackers.
Industry Recognition for nRF54LM20B
At Embedded World, we spoke to Sam Presley, technical product manager at Nordic Semiconductor, about the new nRF54LM20B.

At Nordic's Embedded World booth, Sam Presley spoke to All About Circuits about the nRF54LM20B. The SoC integrates Nordic’s Axon NPU to enable real-time edge AI processing directly on battery-powered devices.
“The SoC is integrating a Nordic proprietary core called Axon, and this is an NPU,” said Presley. “This means it's an AI acceleration engine that we have in hardware. We can use it to accelerate AI inference algorithms on the chip. It can do it faster and with less energy than if you were running it on the CPU.”
Presley showed us a demo running the same algorithm on both the Arm Cortex CPU and on the Axon NPU on the same device.
“You can see here it's like a 10-second reduction in power consumption,” said Presley. “This is really exciting because it's going to enable customers to build some really interesting applications with these devices. We've got a demo here where you can do word recognition. You can say, ‘Okay Nordic,’ ‘Yes,’ ‘No,’ ‘Stop,’ or ‘Go,’ and it will recognize and act on those words.”
The nRF54LM20B SoC also received industry recognition at Embedded World 2026, where it won the Embedded Computing Design “Best in Show” Award (see image above—award in lower left-hand corner). The award was given to highlight the chip’s combination of ultra-low-power wireless connectivity and integrated edge AI acceleration, which judges cited for its design innovation and potential impact on embedded systems.
Expanding Wireless Prowess on Every Front
Nordic’s latest product releases expand its wireless portfolio with new cellular IoT platforms, entry-level Bluetooth LE SoCs, and edge AI-enabled wireless chips. Together, these devices provide developers with low-power connectivity options designed for scalable IoT deployments, while adding new capabilities such as satellite connectivity, integrated cloud services, and on-device intelligence.
