CST2020 Series Current Sense Transformers | Component Highlights

September 11, 2018 by Coilcraft

Coilcraft CST2020 Series current sense transformers can be used to sense currents up to 40 A at frequencies from 400 Hz to 1 MHz.

The Component Highlights series provides a rundown of a component's specs and intended applications.

Coilcraft CST2020 Series

Coilcraft CST2020 Series current sense transformers can be used to sense currents up to 40 A at frequencies from 400 Hz to 1 MHz. The transformers also offer 4000 Vrms isolation between sense and output pins and meet the reinforced insulation requirements of UL60950-1. The transforms have low primary side resistance and are available with turns ratios from 1:70 to 1:300, allowing designers to select a terminating resistor and generate a measurement voltage appropriate to their application.

The CST2020 series is AEC-Q200 Grade 1 qualified and well-suited for use in traction motor, battery management, and 48 V vehicle systems in addition to aerospace power management, three-phase solar inverters, industrial motor controls, and other high current applications requiring high isolation between the sensed current and measurement circuitry.

  • Sensed current up to 40 A @ 400 Hz to 1 MHz
  • 4000 Vrms, one-minute isolation (hipot) between windings
  • Meets Reinforced Insulation per UL 60950-1
  • Very low primary DC resistance – 0.84 mΩ
  • Turns ratios: 1:70, 1:100, 1:200, 1:300
  • AEC-Q200 Grade 1 qualified (-40°C to +125°C ambient)
