RENESAS ELECTRONICS RA6M4 32-bit ARM® Microcontrollers

Renesas Electronics RA6M4 32-bit Arm Microcontrollers are highly efficient MCUs with enhanced security functions ideal for IoT and industrial applications and are supported by an open and flexible software ecosystem.

The MCU features a 200MHz Arm Cortex-M33 core that has up to 1MB of code flash with dual-bank, background, and swap operation.  This is complemented by 8KB of data flash and 256KB of total SRAM comprised of 192KB of SRAM with parity and 64KB of SRAM with ECC.  The MCU also has an ethernet MAC controller, USB 2.0 Full-Speed, SDHI, QuadSPI, and OctaSPI interfaces in addition to advanced analog and many other peripherals.

The RA6M4 offers integrated secure element functionality based on Arm TrustZone and the Secure Crypto Engine 9.  Arm TrustZone provides hardware enforced isolation between secure and non-secure environments, while the Secure Crypto Engine 9 offers crypto accelerators, key management support, tamper detection, and power analysis resistance.  The MCU is built on a highly efficient 40nm process, consuming 99µA/MHz in active mode and as low as 0.9µA in low-power modes.

The Flexible Software Package, or FSP, is an easy-to-use, scalable, and high-quality software package that developers can leverage to build secure and connected devices.  It includes FreeRTOS but can also be used with a different RTOS, and it includes HAL drivers and middleware stacks from Renesas and third parties.

The microcontrollers are scalable from 64 to 144 pin packages and can operate at temperatures from -40°C to +105°C.  For more information on Renesas Electronics’ RA6M4 32-bit Arm microcontrollers and their use in secure and connected devices, visit Mouser.com
