This New Product Brief (NPB) is part of a video series highlighting the features, applications, and technical specs of newly-released products.

NXP S32K EVB Evaluation Boards

NXP S32K EVB evaluation boards can be used for quick prototyping and demonstration of applications using the S32K116 and S32K118 MCUs. The MCUs are designed for general purpose automotive applications and feature an Arm® Cortex®-M0+, a SHE compliant security module, and a CAN-FD controller—they are also AEC-Q100 qualified and ASIL-B capable.

In addition to the MCU, the evaluation board includes a CAN system basis chip and LIN PHY, with connectivity for CAN, LIN, and PHY interfaces.  Two large touchpads are available, and headers provide access to the MCU I/Os and are compatible with the Arduino™ UNO footprint for easy hardware expansion. Users can program and debug the S32K EVBs over USB using the integrated OpenSDA adapter, which supports multiple debug interfaces.

  • S32K116/118: Arm® Cortex-M0+, SHE compliant security module, CAN-FD controller
  • AEC-Q100 qualified, ASIL-B capable MCUs
  • CAN SBC (UJA1169) and LIN PHY (TJA1027)
  • Onboard connectivity for CAN, LIN, UART/SCI
  • Arduino™ UNO footprint-compatible with expansion shield support
  • Integrated OpenSDA for program/debug
