STMicroelectronics High Voltage Converter

STMicroelectronics’ VIPER222 High Voltage Converters simplifies the design of auxiliary power supplies in home appliances, smart lighting, industrial, and consumer applications.

The VIPER222 can be used in isolated or non-isolated flyback converters, buck converters, and buck-boost converters. The device integrates a 730V avalanche rugged power MOSFET with a PWM controller.

The controller operates at 30kHz or 60kHz and uses frequency jittering to reduce EMI and filter size. The VIPER222 is housed in a 10-pin SSOP and has many integrated features to minimize external component count, including high voltage startup, a current sense MOSFET, and a 1.2V reference.

No-load power consumption is just 40mW, and burst-mode operation enables high efficiency at light loads.
