I’m Thankful for These 6 EE Online Resources on All About Circuits
On Thanksgiving today, Jeff reflects on how electronics technology enables all our amazing devices, and shares six useful All About Circuits online resources to be thankful for.
It’s Thanksgiving Day here in the United States. This is a time when we take a break and reflect on what we’re most thankful for. For those of you around the world for whom today isn’t a holiday, let me say thanks to you for being part of our global community.

When I’m editing articles and talking to industry experts throughout the year, I sometimes have to pause and think about how the amazing semiconductor and electronics technology makes all our cool devices and advanced systems work. I’m thankful for that technology, and I never forget that, at every level, electronics engineers (EEs) like you are the ones that make it all possible.
But you all started with an EE education and many of you are in college now studying for your BSEE, MSEE, or higher-level degree—maybe home now for Thanksgiving break! Or maybe you’re a parent whose kid is studying for his EE degree and needs a little help. You could even be a working EE and just need a refresher on some key concepts
With all that in mind, here are six online resources on All About Circuits for you to check out. Maybe they’ll help you go on to design and build some of the incredible devices and systems that we're so thankful for.
Online Calculators for Electronics Engineers
All About Circuits offers the best calculators on the Internet. You can use calculators to help you quickly design new circuits and solve your EE homework problems. Each calculator page not only has the calculator itself but also an explanation of the concept and equations on which the calculator is based.
Our Capacitor Impedance Calculator calculates a capacitor's reactance for a given capacitance value and signal frequency.
For example, here’s one of our popular ones: Capacitor Impedance Calculator
There’s lots to choose from, so go to (and bookmark) our Calculators & Tools landing page to scroll through or search for the calculator that meets your needs.
Here’s a couple more popular ones:
Our Online EE Textbook
Gone are the days when there was no alternative to leafing through your thick hardover EE textbook to study up on Ohm’s Law or how to build series-parallel resistor circuits.
All About Circuits provides a comprehensive six volume textbook covering electricity and electronics. Go to our Go to our Lessons in Electric Circuits landing page to check it out.
Videos and Podcasts: Both Fun and Informative!
New this year, our All About Circuits Spotlight videos give you a quick, fun weekly update on what’s new in the electrical engineering world.
The All About Circuits Spotlight YouTube series provides a fun, quick look at technology news each week. (Click through to watch this video)
Are you into podcasts? Check out our Moore's Lobby podcast where we chat with the most innovative industry leaders from the coolest companies about their latest technologies. These thought leaders often share the valuable lessons they’ve learned along the way that can be useful in your career.
Homework Help Thread on Our Forum
In this digital world, you don’t have to seek out help face to face when you’ve got questions.
They won’t do your homework for you—so don’t ask! But DO ask this community of experienced engineers to help guide you through questions you’re stuck on, help you with school projects, or other coursework challenges.
EE Worksheets to Test What You Know
Whether you’re studying up for your mid-term exams, or just want to test your knowledge, check out our extensive selection of Engineering Worksheets.
Example of a question from one of our All About Circuits Engineering Worksheets
We’ve got hundreds of worksheets collected in 8 different categories ranging from basic electricity to digital circuits. Each worksheet comprises several questions and there’s an option to download each as a pdf.
Here’s a couple examples:
Enjoy Our Rich Selection of Technical Articles
On All About Circuits, we have a rich crop of Technical Articles. EE students can use them to solve problems they hit in their studies, and professional EEs rely on these as well.
Article topics range from high-level theory to tutorials on tools to analyses of specific circuit types. Search for what you need, but here’s a selection to give you a taste:
- The Karnaugh Map Boolean Algebraic Simplification Technique
- What is Hysteresis? An Introduction for Electrical Engineers
- Understanding, Calculating, and Measuring Total Harmonic Distortion (THD)
- MOSFET Structure and Operation for Analog IC Design
- Understanding Schematics
We add new TAs each week, so be sure to check back often.
Have a Great Thanksgiving Today Everyone!
Most of all we’re grateful to you, the readers of All About Circuits and our industry partners. Here’s wishing you a safe, healthy, and happy holiday season, and Happy Thanksgiving Day for those celebrating today.
