Digilent’s VRM is a switching voltage regulator module designed for use in battery-powered applications, such as mechatronics or robotics.

This New Product Brief (NPB) is part of a video series highlighting the features, applications, and technical specs of newly-released products.

Digilent Voltage Regulator Module

Digilent’s VRM is a switching voltage regulator module designed for use in battery-powered applications, such as mechatronics or robotics. The module can operate from sources as high as 15 V, providing a clean step-down to 3.3 V or 5 V at 6 A, capable of driving multiple servos, motors, and supporting hardware. The module is based on TI’s TPS54620 switching regulator, which integrates high- and low-side MOSFETs and provides high-efficiency power conversion. The regulator is set to switch at 479 kHz, with the option to synchronize switching to an external clock. Digilent’s VRM offers 2-pin headers and screw terminal blocks for flexible input and output connections, jumpers for easy output enable and voltage selection, and the board measures just 1.5 in x 0.8 in.

  • Input: 5 V to 15 V
  • Output: 6 A at 3.3 V or 5 V (selectable)
  • Switching Frequency: 479 kHz
  • Switching synchronization to an external clock
  • Connections: 2-pin headers (3x output), screw terminals
  • Dimensions: 1.5 in x 0.8 in
