This New Product Brief (NPB) is part of a video series highlighting the features, applications, and technical specs of newly-released products.

Renesas RZ/A Series

Renesas RZ/A series microprocessors are high-performance MPUs with an innovative architecture that simplifies system design and shortens time-to-market. The architecture is based on an Arm Cortex-A9 that achieves 1000 DMIPS at 400 MHz. It has up to 10 MB of on-chip RAM, with a 128-bit wide internal memory bus and x4 parallel access that provide higher throughput than external DDR memories, while also lowering complexity, power consumption, and cost.

The RZ/A series also supports Execute-In-Place from QSPI flash multiple storage and connectivity interfaces. The MPUs have two camera interfaces, a dual-display LCD controller, a 2D graphics accelerator, and multiple audio interfaces to deliver a rich, full-featured user experience.

  • CPU: Arm Cortex-A9 @ 400 MHz/1000 DMIPS
  • On-chip RAM: 3 MB to 10 MB
  • Memory Interface: 128-bit wide, x4 parallel access
  • Flash: QSPI with XIP support and three cache layers
  • Connectivity: USB 2.0, SD/MMC, Ethernet, SPI/Multi I/O
  • Graphics: Up to 2x camera, 2x WXGA display
