Texas Instruments’ DP83869EVM is a copper and fiber industrial ethernet PHY evaluation module based on TI’s DP83869 gigabit PHY transceiver.

This New Product Brief (NPB) is part of a video series highlighting the features, applications, and technical specs of newly-released products.

Texas Instruments PHY Evaluation Module

Texas Instruments’ DP83869EVM is a copper and fiber industrial ethernet PHY evaluation module based on TI’s DP83869 gigabit PHY transceiver, which supports multiple ethernet and fiber protocols. It can also be used to convert between copper and fiber and to bridge between RGMII and SGMII.

The DP83869 is optimized for use in industrial networks, with robust protection against ESD and compliance with TSN requirements. The evaluation board includes a pre-programmed MSP430 that provides easy access to the DP83869 registers through a USB port, as well as bootstraps for hardware configuration.

The board offers flexible power supply options with multiple LDOs for single supply operation, and the option to supply power rails from an external source.

  • Ethernet Protocols: 10BASE-Te, 100BASE-TX, 1000BASE-T
  • Fiber Protocols: 1000BASE-X, 100BASE-FX
  • Supports Media Conversion and Bridge Conversion modes
  • Exceeds 8-kV IEC61000-4-2 ESD
  • USB register access and bootstraps for hardware configuration
  • Flexible onboard and external power supply options
